On Tuesday, a burst left the Sun and started hurtling towards Earth. The result, what is called a coronal mass ejection (CME), is expected to be the largest solar storm that our planet has experienced in the last five years. Being that the year is 2012, any time that our star gives a slight hiccup people start to think that the apocalypse is near.
